Christmas Tsumami Zaiku
Tsumami means "pinch" and Zaiku means "fine craft." This type of fine work is used for hair accessories since Edo era (1600-) in Japan. Literally, CHIEKO made those each small pieces by pinching silk fabric with her finger tips. These pieces are pointy. So, this type of Tsumami Zaiku is called Kensaki Tsumami. Kensaki means tip of sword. The color combination reminds us Christmas tree. Some of the colorful fabric around the red center beads is from my sister's kimono.
