Light Blue Tsumami Zaiku
This is called Tsumami Zaiku. Tsumami means "pinch" and Zaiku means "fine craft." This type of fine work is used for hair accessories since Edo era (1600-) in Japan. Literally, CHIEKO made those small pieces by pinching silk kimono fabric with her finger tips. No tweezers. This took her several days to make. This type of Tsumami Zaiku is called Maru Tsumami because the edge of pieces is round shape. The gradation of light blue is beautiful.
